“The order was clear,” Soukar revealed. “They knew where I lived. Three men were sent to execute me in my home under the cover of darkness.”
Faced with this horrifying revelation, Soukar acted quickly. He temporarily moved to a safer location, but he also mobilized a network of community members to keep watch over his home. On December 31, 2003, his security network spotted a gray, unmarked pickup truck lurking outside his house.
“They watched and waited,” Soukar said. “At one point, one of them approached my gate, likely to confirm if my vehicle was inside.”
The men remained stationed there until early morning, seemingly waiting for the perfect moment to strike. But when they found no opportunity, they left, allowing Soukar to live another day and tell his story years later.
