Where does mother’s day come from?

D’où vient la fête des mères?

Chaque année, nous célébrons la fête des mères. Savons-nous d’où vient la fête des mères? Aux États-Unis, c’est le deuxième dimanche de chaque année. Dans d’autres parties du monde, elle est célébrée à différents jours. En Haïti par exemple, c’est toujours le dernier dimanche de mai.

La fête des mères a commencé comme une campagne de vacances pour honorer toutes les mères en 1905. Cette année-là, la mère d’Anna Jarvis était décédée. Il n’était pas vraiment connu avant l’année 1908 dans la ville de Grafton West Virginia. Cette année-là, elle a organisé une grande fête pour commémorer sa mère.

Le président des etats unies Woodrow Wilson a apposé sa signature sur une proclamation qui a fait du deuxième dimanche de mai le jour officiel pour célébrer la fête des mères. Mais cela n’a pas été facile. Il a fallu à Jarvis plus de 6 ans de combats pour que cela se produise. Elle a rallié de nombreux États au sein de l’union pour sensibiliser à ce grand jour. Le président Woodrow Wilson n’avait pas d’autre alternative.

Le 2ème dimanche de mai est une journée pour tous pour montrer leurs amours à leurs mères. Peu importe que votre mère soit vivante ou non. Ce jour-là, on achète généralement des fleurs de types différents pour exprimer leurs amours.

Where does mother’s day come from?

Each and every year we celebraye mother’s day. Do we know where mother’s day come from? In the U.S, it is the second sundays of every year. In other parts of the world, it is celebrated on different days. In Haiti for instance, it is always the last sunday in May.

Mother’s day began as a campaign for a vacation to honor all mothers in the year 1905. It just so happened that that same year, Anna Jarvis’ mother had passed away. It was not really known of the passing of her mother until the year 1908 in the town of Grafton West Virginia. She held a big party that year to commemorate her mother.

United States’ President Woodrow Wilson put his signature on a proclamation that made the second Sunday of may the official day to celebrate ity in the United States of America. Like many new ideas and adventures, this did not come easy though. It took Jarvis over 6 years of fighting in order for it to have happened. She rallied many states in the union to raise awareness of this great day. President Woodrow Wilson had no other alternatives.

The second Sunday in may is a day for all to show their loves for their mothers. It does not really matter if your mother is alive or no longer alive. On this day, one usually buy flowers of different type to express their loves. This is not carved in any stones. In fact, many countries have different days to celebrate mother’s day.

On that day in all parts of the world, whether your mother is a live or not, people do different things to celebrate that day. In the country of Haiti for instance, folks bring flowers to the tombstones of the mothers that passed.
